Brief Description:
Area of operation is arid and semiarid and major portion has no grid connected electricity is available. People have to use kerosene oil or just live in darkness. So this was initiated after a formal need assessment that how could be used the surplus time of community and minimize the hardship they face due to unavailability of lighting. First PV system was got from a private firm for Mosque and then switched over to schools, lighting system at household, communication etc and the experience remained of high interest.
We had 05 options; storage of life saving drugs in remote areas, lighting in clinics, communication, lighting at and fans for schools/homes/micro enterprises and 5th one was lighting for religious places. Our philanthropist chose 5th option and we AWARE developed a model project. Then fourth, 3rd, 2nd and recently switched over to first …! Very interesting. CSOs have different priority and philanthropists have their own, but no matter we have common areas of interest at least.
