Thar is no more a desert but hub of national and international interests,
multinationals, IMFs etc. In the era of hyper change, multidimensional strategies are
required to cope with challenges and give positive directions to policies/programs
those will affect Thari people, in direct or indirect way.
Those who grown up from Thar and posses specialty in a particular filed/subject, to
pay back to mother land whatever they can; sharing of learning, research
work/creation to support Thari youth in career building, brain storming and
encouraging to tap the opportunities and combat the issues; AWARE gives a call.
Cultural Committee of AWARE, has initiated a series of activities on above subject,
and the first event was held on February 15, 2010 at Chachro, District Tharparkar
with Dr. Shahid Hussain Kunbhar.
Dr. Shahid Hussain shared that he got primary education from Nabisar Thar and
matriculated from High School Umerkot and passed intermediate exams from Govt
Degree College Umerkot. He earned MBBS degree from Sindh Medical College
Karachi and served in Karachi for more than two years. From England I earned
degree in Psychiatrists from Royal College of Psychiatrists Cardiff, UK. During my
stay over there remained active in social work; Dr. shared. After completing my
course from RCPC I got a chance to work in Nambour, Queensland Australia and
after serving over there for two years I went back to UK and working over there in
Birmingham; Dr. shared added more.
Getting education is not only for degrees and jobs but we must have to analyze te
situation, plan our targets and pay back to our native land. I shall be back to Pakistan
and get settled here but for the time being to work abroad for earning as well as
experience is required; Dr. Shahid shared with participants of event.
The lecture/sharing was followed by questions and answers. Dr. emphasized on
career counseling for youth of Thar and in the process the inevitable role lies with
parents and teachers; Dr. Shahid concluded his sharing.
On the occasion Ali Akbar ED, AWARE shared background of initiating the series
of these activities and some plans. Mr. Gotam presented a shawl/loee of Thar as a
gift to Dr. Shahid Hussain.
On the same day in morning hours Dr. Shahid had examined some psycho patients.
Dr. Bheesham was accompanied Dr. Shahid, as may be able to make follow ups.
